“Eye In the Sky” is the latest album from Swedish based band Killer Bee and it was released on 14th October by Mighty Music (Target Group). The band formed in the early 90’s and released three albums between 1993 and 1997 before splitting up in 1998. I must admit I don’t recall the band from that period; but that applies to a lot of bands from the 90’s as building a career, getting married and raising kids seemed to take up most of my time! The latest album from Killer Bee is well worth checking out though and the track “One Step Closer” is included on the Friday NI Rocks Show on 21st October.

Killer Bee was formed by Canadian vocalist Brian “Bee” Frank and Swedish bass player Anders “LA” Rönnblom and the band had some success during the 90’s, releasing 3 albums, playing a number of festivals in Moscow and touring across Europe before splitting in 1998. A compilation album was released in 2011 and this lead to the release of a new studio album in 2012 called “From Hell and Back”. That was followed by “Evolutionary Children” in 2013 and “Rock Another Day” in 2015.

In addition to Frank and Rönnblom the current Killer Bee line-up features Andre Hägglund and Paul “Tonka” Chapman (UFO and Skid Row) on guitars, Morgan Evans on drums and Denny DeMarchi on keyboards. Canadian DeMarchi had also produced, engineered and played rhythm guitar on “From Hell and Back”.

The band have released three singles over the past few months – “Joystick Warrior”, “Higher and Higher” and “Get on Board”. My own favourites would be “Eye In The Sky”, “One Step Closer” and “By My Side”.

About “NI Rocks Recommends”

The simple idea behind “NI Rocks Recommends” is to acknowledge and promote some of the great music being submitted to Rock Radio NI. I'll not be giving marks or ratings or analyzing the tracks in great detail; just telling you something about the artist and the album. It’s a personal recommendation to go check something out, not a traditional “review”!

My musical tastes cover most things rock; from the not too melodic to the not too heavy. The albums that I’ll be recommending are those that you’ll hear me playing tracks from on my shows on Rock Radio NI.
