“Breaking The Rock” is the third release from French band Existance and it was released on 14th October via Black Viper Records. The band formed in 2008 and are heavily influenced by the 80’s heavy metal sound. The driving force behind the band is vocalist and guitarist Julian Izard, who is the son of H-Bomb vocalist Didier Izard. I played the track “Honest” on the Friday NI Rocks Show on 14th October.
Existance released a self-titled 8-track demo in 2011 and this was later re-released in 2012 when the band signed to High Roller Records. The first full length album followed in 2014. This was called “Steel Alive” and it was released by Mausoleum Records. Over the past few years the band has played across Europe.
The current line-up is Julian izard on vocals and guitar, Antoine Poiret on guitar, Nicholas Martineau on drums and Julien Robilliard on bass.
There are ten tracks on the album and my personal favourites would include “Heavy Metal Fury”, “Honest”, “All Is On Fire” and “Marilyn (Icon of Desire)”.

About “NI Rocks Recommends”
The simple idea behind “NI Rocks Recommends” is to acknowledge and promote some of the great music being submitted to Rock Radio NI. I'll not be giving marks or ratings or analyzing the tracks in great detail; just telling you something about the artist and the album. It’s a personal recommendation to go check something out, not a traditional “review”!
My musical tastes cover most things rock; from the not too melodic to the not too heavy. The albums that I’ll be recommending are those that you’ll hear me playing tracks from on my shows on Rock Radio NI.
