Love And A .38 are an LA based band that I have heard or seen mentioned quite a few times over the past few years, so when their new album “Nomads” appeared in our inbox I was keen to check it out. Needless to say, I wasn’t disappointed. This is one of those albums that you know you’re gonna love from the moment that you play it for the first time. Love And A .38 release “Nomads” on 19th February. The lead-off single “Oh My God” was included on the Friday NI Rocks Show on 12th February.

Love And A .38 formed in LA in 2009 and released their self-titled, 5 track EP in 2010, followed by a few more singles before starting work on “Nomads”, which is their first album release. Reading their biography they seem to have done things pretty much on their own; pushing the band on social media, playing gigs regularly on the west coast of the USA, recording and self-producing their own album etc. “Nomads” and the band’s earlier releases are available on Amazon and iTunes in the UK.

Singer Ryan Hudson is from Oklahoma and previously had been a member of local band Lazarus IV before joining Californian based Lokomotiv for a short period. The guitarist is Domo Domaracki, with Justin Emord playing bass and Clark Skelton completing the line-up on the drums.

In addition to “Oh My God”, my personal favourites from the 10 tracks on the album would be “Went Away”, “Holy War”, “I Won’t Wait”, “Not Comin Home” and “Born To Make Me Die”.

The band’s website still seems to be under construction - http://www.loveanda38music.com/ - but you’ll find all the social media links there.

About “NI Rocks Recommends”

The simple idea behind “NI Rocks Recommends” is to acknowledge and promote some of the great music being submitted to Rock Radio NI. I'll not be giving marks or ratings or analyzing the tracks in great detail; just telling you something about the artist and the album. It’s a personal recommendation, not a traditional “review”!

My musical tastes cover most things rock; from the not too melodic to the not too heavy. The albums that I’ll be recommending are merely those that I would buy myself and which you’ll be hearing played on my shows on Rock Radio NI.
