That there would be an “NI Rocks Recommends” for Stormzone’s new album “Three Kings” is a bit of a no-brainer really! Stormzone are, after-all, consistently one of the best rock bands on the local scene and one of those that inspired the idea of “NI Rocks” over four years ago. Having said that, let’s be honest. If “Three Kings” had arrived in my in-box from some band in the USA or Europe that I hadn’t heard of before I’d still be writing this “NI Rocks Recommends”. This really is an album that you need to go and buy when it is released by Metal Nations on 22nd July.
From the first track “The Pain Inside” with its wonderful Churchillian opening through to the thirteenth “Out of Eden” what you get is over an hour of classic rock anthems with the usual Stormzone mix of epic lyrics and powerful riff-laden tunes. From the first listen it’s clear that Stormzone have delivered another absolutely fantastic album. I’m not one for labelling bands or over-analysing music but one of my first thoughts on listening to the album was how it had captured that NWOBHM feel whilst still sounding like Stormzone. Surely an ideal combination to capture the older generation like myself as well as those who are somewhat younger!!

About “NI Rocks Recommends”
I'm not a reviewer but wanted to acknowledge some of the great music being submitted to Rock Radio NI by artists, promoters and labels both within and outside of N Ireland. That was the idea behind “NI Rocks Recommends”. I'm not giving marks or ratings, trying to categorise bands or compare artists. The albums that I’ll be recommending would be those I’d buy myself, so there’ll be a strong focus on “classic rock” sounds; however you wish to define that! What you won’t get is death metal or similar genres. Each to his own, but that ain’t what I choose to listen to!
To be honest I’m not really a big fan of the whole idea of “Reviews” as they’re simply one person’s opinion!! “NI Rocks Recommends” is therefore just my personal recommendation. Let's just say that if I've went to the bother of writing this, I think it's worth taking a listen to and you’ll be hearing it played on my shows on Rock Radio NI!!
