Good luck to those running the two charity gigs on Saturday night (Sept 28th).
In the Nerve Centre, Derry/Londonderry its Rockers Reunion XI where for only £5 you get Led Zeppelin tribute The Rubber Plants, riff masters Triggerman, Thin Lizzy tribute Kings Call, Seneron and Half Shot. All proceeds go to Foyle Down Syndrome Trust and Children In Crossfire. We’ve attended a few Rockers Reunion gigs and they are always great events.
In Belfast it’s the Big Rosetta Rock Reunion – held in the Beechlawn Hotel as the future of The Rosetta was and still is uncertain. Several bands from the 80s / 90s have reformed for this gig including No Hot Ashes (who have also recorded an EP) and Annexe.
I have to admit I never went to the Rosie back then. One of the reasons was that it was always the place that my older brother was and I think I was actively encouraged not to go – having heard some of the stories, that was probably to make sure I didn’t tell our mother anything I shouldn’t!! lol. Drinking in different places seemed to be an unwritten rule!
I’m pretty sure that the last time I saw Annexe (or Annexe II as it probably was) play was the night before my wedding when my brother and I had one of our very rare nights out together – at the Joymount in Carrickfergus I think.
I hope everyone going to either event or to the Diamond Rock Club, the Black Box, the Empire or wherever has a great night.
