Rick Ruhl, the lead singer from Tennessee based band Every Mother’s Nightmare, was my guest on the Friday NI Rocks Show in September 2017 just ahead of the band releasing “Grind”, their first new album in fifteen years. Last year the band reissued the “Smokin’ Delta Voodoo” album from 2000 and on 12th April their label HighVol Music released “Backtraxx – Reissue”. I was a bit slow picking up on the release, but I’ll be including the track “Southern Way” on the Friday NI Rocks Show next week.

When you see singer Steve Overland’s name attached to a band you know it’s going to worth checking out. That is certainly the case with the band Lonerider and their debut album “Attitude”, which was released on 26th April by Escape Music. The band also features drummer Simon Kirke, bass player Chris Childs and guitarist Steve Morris alongside Brian J Anthony. The track “Rhythm of Live” was included on the Friday NI Rocks Show on 22nd March and “My Imagination” on 3rd May.

Singer Johnny Gioeli is the only original member of the band remaining. I played the track “Take A Chance” on the Friday NI Rocks Show on 15th February, “Page of Your Life” on 12th April and the Queen cover “Who Wants to Live Forever” on 3rd May.

Back in 2017 I bought the first two CDs from German band Beyond The Black after discovering the band was touring with Kobra and the Lotus and deciding to check them out. At that stage the albums hadn’t been officially released in the UK. The following year I bought the third album “Heart of the Hurricane” and recorded an interview with the band’s singer Jennifer Haben. The band have now announced that the first two albums are getting a physical release outside of Germany, Austria and Switzerland for the first time and that they are releasing a new ‘Black Edition’ of “Heart of the Hurricane” that features three bonus tracks and a extra CD of tracks from the first two albums.

Gypsy Rose were a Swedish band formed in 1981 – not to be confused with the Canadian band of the same name formed in the late 80’s. The band was initially active from 1981 to 1993, before splitting and reforming in 2004 for a short period, during which they recorded and released two albums. Their 2005 self-titled debut album was re-released by Scandirock Records on 26th April and re-named “Reloaded”. I included the track “You Drive Me Crazy” on the Friday NI Rocks Show on 12th April.

The Quireboys were one of the bands badly hit by the debacle at Pledge Music, which has seen many artists out of pocket – along with many of the pledgers. I was one of the initial pledgers for the album and like many others, I re-ordered through Off Yer Rocks Records when it was clear the Pledge Music Campaign was terminal. The latest album from The Quireboys, entitled “Amazing Disgrace”, was released digitally on 5th April and on CD on 19th April. A vinyl release is to follow in June. The track “Seven Deadly Sins” was included on the Friday NI Rocks Show on 5th April.

The single “Stay Away” was included on the Friday NI Rocks Show on 1st February, followed by “Rage” on 22nd March and “Another Season In Hell” on 12th April.
