Rage of Angels, the band created by Ged Rylands formerly of Ten and now of Tyketto, release their second album, entitled “The Devil’s New Tricks” through Escape Music on 26th February. I was a big fan of the debut album “Dreamworld” that was released in February 2013 and was looking forward to hearing what the new album had to offer. I wasn’t to be disappointed. Whilst the first album featured a number of singers including Danny Vaughn, Harry Hess and Ralph Scheepers, the lead vocals on “The Devil’s New Tricks” are solely the responsibility of Rob Moratti and he does an outstanding job.

I played the title track on the Friday NI Rocks Show that was broadcast on 1st January and the first single from the album “All Your Own Way” is included on the NI Rocks A-Z Show on 16th February. Other favourites would be the opening track “Rage of Angels”, “One Step Closer”, “Strangers In The Night” and “Stop Changing The TV”.

Rylands plays keyboards and rhythm guitar on the album with lead guitars being provided by Neil Fraser (Ten), Chris Green (Tyketto, Furyon and Rubicon Cross) and Martin Kronlund (Gypsy Rose). The line-up is completed by two members of the band Coldspell; Perra Johannsen on drums and Chris Goldsmith on bass.

Ged Rylands was a guest on the Friday NI Rocks Show in June 2014 just ahead of Rage of Angels playing a gig in The Diamond Rock Club, Ahoghill. http://www.rockradioni.co.uk/interviews/1571-ni-rocks-interview-with-ged-rylands-of-rage-of-angels-tyketto.html

About “NI Rocks Recommends”

The simple idea behind “NI Rocks Recommends” is to acknowledge and promote some of the great music being submitted to Rock Radio NI. I'll not be giving marks or ratings or analyzing the tracks in great detail; just telling you something about the artist and the album. It’s a personal recommendation, not a traditional “review”!

My musical tastes cover most things rock; from the not too melodic to the not too heavy. The albums that I’ll be recommending are merely those that I would buy myself and which you’ll be hearing played on my shows on Rock Radio NI.
