Radio Exile released their self-titled debut album through AOR Heaven on 26th October. The band brings together musicians who have played alongside some of the biggest names in the music business and features the amazing vocals of Chandler Mogel who I last encountered on the Outloud album “Let’s Get Serious” in May 2014 (also released through AOR Heaven). At the risk of sounding like a reviewer, I could say that musically and vocally the album is pretty much beyond finding fault with. That being said though; the album is at the more mellow / AOR extreme of my musical comfort zone and there are a few tracks that might just drop off the end. That’s just a personal thing though; others will probably love those tracks.

I played the track “No Pity on the Highway” on the Friday NI Rocks Show recently. Other favourites from amongst the 10 on the album would be “High Road, High Price”, “Soulfire” and “Down In A Hole”.

Chandler Mogel’s principle partner in writing the tracks and forming the band is Charlie Calv who also plays piano and keyboards. They are joined by Jimmy Leahey on guitar, Kenny Aaronson on bass and Dave Anthony on drums.

About “NI Rocks Recommends”

The simple idea behind “NI Rocks Recommends” is to acknowledge and promote some of the great music being submitted to Rock Radio NI. I'll not be giving marks or ratings or analyzing the tracks in great detail; just telling you something about the artist and the album. It’s a personal recommendation, not a traditional “review”!

My musical tastes cover most things rock; from the not too melodic to the not too heavy. The albums that I’ll be recommending are merely those that I would buy myself and which you’ll be hearing played on my shows on Rock Radio NI.
