I recorded and broadcast an interview with George Lynch in March following the release of his album with Stryper’s Michael Sweet - http://www.rockradioni.co.uk/interviews/1831-ni-rocks-interview-with-george-lynch.html . On the day I spoke to him, he and vocalist Oni Logan were due to start their final sessions to finish off the new Lynch Mob album. That album entitled “Rebel” is released through Frontiers Records on 21st August. During the interview George jokingly said that the album was going to be awesome, and he may just be right!

“Rebel” is the seventh full studio album from Lynch Mob since Lynch formed the band in 1989, following his departure from Dokken and comes less than year after the release of “Sun Red Sun” (Rat Pak Records). In the intervening months, Lynch has released not just “Only to Rise” with Michael Sweet, but an excellent double album as part of the Shadow Train project that he has been working on for some time. Lynch is also working on music for at least two other bands he is involved in – The Infidels and Unimog.

Lynch and Logan worked with bass player Jeff Pilson (Dokken /Dio /Foreigner) and drummer Brian Tichy (Whitesnake/ The Dead Daisies / Operation:Mindcrime etc) on the recording of “Rebel”, though Sean McNabb (Dokken / Burning Rain) and Jimmy D’Anda (Bulletboys) will replace those two on tour. Lynch also worked with Pilson on the T&N album “Slave to the Empire” in 2012 and told me that he, Pilson, Mick Brown and Michael Sweet hoped to work on a new album possibly under a new name; perhaps in 2017. Tichy had also worked with Lynch on the “Only To Rise” album.

Frontiers have announced that there will be 2 singles from the album – “Testify” and “Automatic Fix”. Videos for both tracks have already been released and the former was played on the Friday NI Rocks Show recently. Other favourite tracks for me would be “Sanctuary”, “Dirty Money” and “War”.

About “NI Rocks Recommends”

The simple idea behind “NI Rocks Recommends” is to acknowledge and promote some of the great music being submitted to Rock Radio NI. I'll not be giving marks or ratings or analyzing the tracks in great detail; just telling you something about the artist and the album. It’s a personal recommendation, not a traditional “review”!

My musical tastes cover most things rock; from the not too melodic to the not too heavy. The albums that I’ll be recommending are merely those that I would buy myself and which you’ll be hearing played on my shows on Rock Radio NI.
