“Into The Open” is the debut album from German band 21 Octayne and is released by AFM records in the UK on 26th May. 21 Octayne are a prime example of a band created by artists who have built their reputation performing in other bands. In this case, probably the highest profiled of these is vocalist Hagen Grohe who had been selected as the frontman for the Joe Perry Project. The other members of the band are Marco Wriedt (from Axxis) on guitar, Andrew “The Bullet” Lauer (Paul Gilbert band) on bass and Alex Landenburg (Rhapsody) on drums.

The band’s first digital single “The Heart (Save Me)” sold well on both sides of The Atlantic and their first shows apparently proved to be very successful. If the debut album is anything to go by, I reckon that 21 Octayne could be around for quite a while.

There are 12 tracks on the album. Personal favourites would include : “She’s Killing Me”, “Dear Friend”, “Don’t Turn Away” and “Your Life”

About “NI Rocks Recommends”

I'm not a reviewer and I certainly don’t claim to be a journalist, but I wanted to acknowledge some of the great music being submitted to Rock Radio NI by artists, promoters and labels. That was the simple idea behind “NI Rocks Recommends”. To be honest I’m not really a big fan of the whole idea of “Reviews” as they just represent one person’s opinion!!  So I'm not giving marks or ratings, trying to categorise bands or compare artists. The albums that I’ll be recommending are merely those that I would buy myself and which you’ll be hearing played on my shows on Rock Radio NI.
