Swedish band Crashdïet release their fifth album, “Rust”, through Frontiers Music on 13th September. The band formed initially in 2000 and has now released albums with four different lead vocalists; “Rust” being the first for new singer Gabriel Keyes. The track “Idiots” was included on the Friday NI Rocks Show in June and the latest single “Rust” was on the Show on 6th September.

Crashdïet was originally formed in 2000 and released a few demos before splitting in 2002. Original singer Dave Lepard then reformed the band with guitarist Martin Sweet, bass player Peter London and drummer Eric Young. A self-titled EP was released in 2003 and their debut album “Rest In Sleaze” followed in 2005.

The band split again in 2006 following the suicide of Lepard, but reformed a few months later and recruited Finish singer H.Olliver Twisted (Olli Herman) from Reckless Love. The album “The Unattractive Revolution” was released in 2007 before Olliver returned to Reckless Love in 2008.

Crashdïet, now featuring new singer Simon Cruz, signed to Frontiers for their third album “Generation Wild” which was released in 2010. That was followed by “The Savage Playground” in 2013. Cruz left the band in the midst of a Japanese tour in 2015.

Guitarist Martin Sweet, bass player Peter London and drummer Eric Young are now joined by singer Gabriel Keyes for the release of their fifth album “Rust”. The band’s sound remains largely unchanged and is heavily influenced by the 80’s sleaze / glam genres.

About “NI Rocks Recommends”

The simple idea behind “NI Rocks Recommends” is to acknowledge and promote some of the great music being submitted to Rock Radio NI. The albums that I’ll be recommending are those that you’ll hear me playing tracks from on my shows. I'll not be giving marks or ratings or analyzing the tracks in great detail; just telling you something about the artist and the album. It’s a personal recommendation to go check something out, not a traditional “review”!
