NI ROCKS Recommends "Rock Wolves" by ROCK WOLVES
Rock Wolves released their self-titled debut album via Steamhammer / SPV on 28th October. The trio certainly aren’t new to the rock arena however with all them having 25 to 40 years of experience; some of it at the highest peaks of the rock hierarchy. The inclusion of vocalist / guitarist Michael Voss in the band was what made the press release stand out for me. Add to that, the name of drummer Herman Rarebell, and you know something is worth checking out! From the first listen to the first track, I knew I wouldn’t be disappointed! I played that track “Rock For The Nations” on the Friday NI Rocks Show on 4th November and “Riding Shotgun” on 11th November.
Rock Wolves are Michael Voss (Mad Max, Bonfire, Casanova etc) on lead vocals and guitar, Herman Rarebell (Scorpions 1977-96) on drums and Stephan “Gudze” Hinz (H-Blockx) on bass. Voss and Rarebell have been performing together in Michael Schenker’s Temple of Rock for a few years.
There are ten tracks on the CD and 11 on the iTunes download – the bonus track “Inside Out” is actually really good and worth checking out. All the tracks are great, but my favourites would be “Rock For The Nations”, “Surrounded by Fools”, “The Blame Game”, “Riding Shotgun” and “The Lion Is Loose”. There is also a great version of the Toronto track “What About Love” which was a huge hit for Heart.

About “NI Rocks Recommends”
The simple idea behind “NI Rocks Recommends” is to acknowledge and promote some of the great music being submitted to Rock Radio NI. I'll not be giving marks or ratings or analyzing the tracks in great detail; just telling you something about the artist and the album. It’s a personal recommendation to go check something out, not a traditional “review”!
My musical tastes cover most things rock; from the not too melodic to the not too heavy. The albums that I’ll be recommending are those that you’ll hear me playing tracks from on my shows on Rock Radio NI.
