“Children of the Drones” is the third album from LA based Venrez and it was released through Monarch Music Group on 24th April. The band formed in 2010, but first came to my attention back in 2013 when they were announced as support for the Buckcherry / Hardcore Superstar tour. By that stage they’d already supported Slash and Alice Cooper on tour and had just released their second album entitled “American Illusion”. I posted an interview with singer Steven Berez (Ven) in October 2013 just ahead of their tour with Buckcherry - http://www.rockradioni.co.uk/interviews/1337-ni-rocks-interview-with-venrez.html - and enjoyed the band’s performance in both Belfast and Dublin.

I’ve already played the single “Hang The Predator” on both the NI Rocks A-Z Show and Friday NI Rocks Show, as well as playing “Devil’s Due” on the latter show. Other tracks that stand out are the title track “Children of the Drones”, “Salvation”, “Reflection” and “Spin The Top”. There are a couple of tracks amongst the ten on the album that personally don’t tick the box for me, but others may like. Those are “Mist of Mercy” and “Sacred Blood”.

Venrez is Ven on vocals, Jason Womack on guitars, Nico D’Arnese on bass and Ed Davis on drums. For more information check out http://venreztheband.com/ where you can also find the links for Facebook, Twitter etc.

The band return for another European tour along with Richie Ramone in May and June. That includes a number of dates in England and Wales.

About “NI Rocks Recommends”

The simple idea behind “NI Rocks Recommends” is to acknowledge and promote some of the great music being submitted to Rock Radio NI. I'll not be giving marks or ratings or analyzing the tracks in great detail; just telling you something about the artist and the album. It’s a personal recommendation, not a traditional “review”!

My musical tastes cover most things rock; from he not too melodic to the not too heavy. The albums that I’ll be recommending are merely those that I would buy myself and which you’ll be hearing played on my shows on Rock Radio NI.
