I have to admit to being a big fan of The Burning Crows, having played tracks from their debut EP “Never Had It So Good” quite extensively on Rock Radio NI over the past year and having seen them play in Auntie Annies in Belfast in September. You’ll also find an interview with Lance and Whippz from last August on the RRNI website. So, needless to say when the promotional package for their new album “Behind The Veil” landed in my email in-box I had high expectations, particularly after watching the video for the first single release “All The Way”. I wasn’t to be disappointed!

“Behind The Veil” is released in the UK on 14th June on the band’s own Burning Crows Records label, following a very successful funding campaign on the PledgeMusic website. The album was recorded in Rockfield Studios with Nick Brine, repeating the successful partnership that delivered the “Never Had It So Good” EP. If your taste in music is anything like my own, this is an album that if you haven’t already pledged on, you’ll need to make sure you buy!

There are 14 tracks including the 5 that were on the earlier EP. Favourite new tracks would include “All The Way”, “So Wrong” and “Behind The Veil” but there’s not a poor track on the album.

About “NI Rocks Recommends”

I'm not a reviewer but wanted to acknowledge some of the great music being submitted to Rock Radio NI by artists, promoters and labels both within and outside of N Ireland. That was the idea behind “NI Rocks Recommends”. I'm not giving marks or ratings, trying to categorise bands or compare artists. The albums that I’ll be recommending would be those I’d buy myself, so there’ll be a strong focus on “classic rock” sounds; however you wish to define that! What you won’t get is death metal or similar genres. Each to his own, but that ain’t what I choose to listen to!

To be honest I’m not really a big fan of the whole idea of “Reviews” as they’re simply one person’s opinion!!  “NI Rocks Recommends” is therefore just my personal recommendation. Let's just say that if I've went to the bother of writing this, I think it's worth taking a listen to and you’ll be hearing it played on my shows on Rock Radio NI!!
