I only recently heard of Mia Klose when she followed the NI Rocks Twitter account. Her Bio referred to her as “the Swedish bombshell of 80s rock”….which was enough to get me curious! Turned out that what she was hoping to recreate musically was the sound of 80s rock and that she was due to play the Hard Rock Hell AOR Festival that weekend. Her image would certainly remind you of some of the female artists of that era – though updated for the new generation. She sent me her album “London” which was released back in August 2012 to check out.

I have to admit that I was fairly impressed. The album would be at the softer end of the rock genre and there are a few tracks that maybe don’t hit the mark for me, but there is definite potential there. With my musical tastes I’m looking to hear that 80s sound which Mia has stated inspires her and if she sticks to that and doesn’t get drawn into the commercial pop side of the music industry then there is much to look forward to. Favourite tracks would include “Open Your Eyes”. “You Drive Me Crazy” and “Mama”.

About “NI Rocks Recommends”

I'm not a reviewer but wanted to acknowledge some of the great music being submitted to Rock Radio NI by artists, promoters and labels both within and outside of N Ireland. That was the idea behind “NI Rocks Recommends”. I'm not giving marks or ratings, trying to categorise bands or compare artists. The albums that I’ll be recommending would be those I’d buy myself, so there’ll be a strong focus on “classic rock” sounds; however you wish to define that! What you won’t get is death metal or similar genres. Each to his own, but that ain’t what I choose to listen to!
