NI Rocks Recommends - Kobra and The Lotus – “Kobra and the Lotus”

This is the second album from the Canadian rockers, following on from the debut album “Out of The Pit” in 2010. The album was released in Europe by Spinefarm Records in August, although the band are signed globally to Universal Music/Simmons Records.

I only checked out the band recently when I heard they were supporting Buckcherry on tour in the UK and I have to say I loved what I heard as soon as I played it.

The big track from the album is the anthemic “Forever One” but the majority are solid hard rockin tracks driven by great twin lead guitars and the soaring vocals of Kobra Paige. The other two singles “Welcome to My Funeral” and “50 Shades of Evil” are excellent tracks and “My Life” and “Nayana” are favourites of mine. Ms Paige’s classical background is evident throughout but probably highlighted best in “Sanctuary”.

About "NI Rocks Recommends"

Normally the “NI Rocks Recommends” series features some of the great music being submitted to Rock Radio NI by artists, promoters and labels both within and outside of N Ireland. But as with all things there are exceptions to the rule and this is another recommendation for an album I bought (at their gig in Glasgow as it happens) rather than one that was sent to us.

As usual, I'm not giving marks or ratings, trying to categorise bands or compare artists. To be honest I’m not really a big fan of most reviews as they’re simply one person’s opinion!! Therefore “NI Rocks Recommends” is just my personal recommendation. Let's just say that if I've went to the bother of writing this, I think it's worth taking a listen to and you’ll be hearing it played on my shows on Rock Radio NI!!
