I have to admit I don’t get over excited when I see an album submitted that comes with the genre “melodic rock” identified. Quite often the “rock” in “melodic rock” is hard to find!! However, “Victims of Our Circumstances” by Greek / German band Redrum is an album worth checking out as there’s a harder edge to it that appeals to my tastes. It is released by RMB Records on 26th April 2013.

Bobaflex are a band that I only discovered recently when New Ocean Media sent their album “Hell In My Heart” through to the station. The album is the fourth by the band and was released back in 2011 originally, but it is being re-launched in Europe and is one that I’d highly recommend. Bobaflex consists of brothers Shaun and Martin McCoy who both play guitar and take on lead vocals; with Jerod Mankin on bass and Tommy Johnson on drums. They’re currently in the process of replacing their other guitarist. Shaun was good enough to answer a few questions for Rock Radio NI.
As much as I love finding new bands to listen to, it’s always good to get new releases from some of the “classic” rock bands that have been around for decades. From Steamhammer/SPV comes the new release by Kingdom Come entitled “Outlier” that gets released in the UK on 29th April. This is first release by Kingdom Come since 2009, although reading the press release the recording is largely the work of frontman Lenny Wolf who recorded all the instruments other than the guitar solos and produced, engineered, mixed and mastered the album.
