“Classic good time rock n roll” is how the press release from Rock n Growl described Swedish band Diamond Dogs. When someone else has nailed a description, I see no need to find new words to describe something! The Diamond Dogs formed in Sweden back in 1992 and release their tenth full length album called “Quitters & Complainers” through Livewire / Cargo Records on 14th August. The ten track album also comes with a bonus disc called “Let’s Have It – Live In Bilbao” featuring 18 tracks.
“Quitters & Complainers” is one of those albums that just keeps growing on you each time you listen to it – simple, no-nonsense catchy tunes that get engrained in your head. As the man said – “classic good time rock n roll”! I played “Alright, Alright, Alright” on the NI Rocks A-Z Show recently and you can expect to hear tracks such as “Stop Barking Up The Wrong Tree”, “Silver Star Delight”, “Goodbye Troubled Soul” and “Rollercoaster” on the Friday NI Rocks Show as well.
Over the years Diamond Dogs have supported bands such as Nazareth, Hanoi Rocks, The Cult, Sensational Alex Harvey Band and the Quireboys and members of the band have been associated with many other artists. As with any band that has been going for more than 20 years, there have been a few line-up changes along the way. The current line-up is Soren Sulo Karlsson on vocals, Lars Karlsson on guitar, Henrik “The Duke of Honk” Widen on keyboards, Johannes Nordell on drums and Morgan Korsmoe on bass.
About “NI Rocks Recommends”
The simple idea behind “NI Rocks Recommends” is to acknowledge and promote some of the great music being submitted to Rock Radio NI. I'll not be giving marks or ratings or analyzing the tracks in great detail; just telling you something about the artist and the album. It’s a personal recommendation, not a traditional “review”!
My musical tastes cover most things rock; from the not too melodic to the not too heavy. The albums that I’ll be recommending are merely those that I would buy myself and which you’ll be hearing played on my shows on Rock Radio NI.
