“Horizon” is the debut album from Brazilian band Owl Company and it was released via One RPM on 14th July. We picked up on the release through our long-time contributors New Ocean Media. Owl Company tick all the boxes for me when I’m wanting to listen to something at the more metal and gutsier end of my music spectrum rather than the softer melodic side. I played the track “Black n Blue” on the Friday NI Rocks Show uploaded on 21st June and then “Play With Fire” on the Show uploaded on 6th July.
“Gothica” is the latest album from melodic hard rock masters Ten and their highly respected frontman Gary Hughes. The album was released via Frontiers Music on 7th July. Although, only a fairly recent convert to the band, I was looking forward to the release of “Gothica” and to hearing more of their epic story-telling tracks. Thankfully, I wasn’t to be disappointed. The single “Travellers” features on the Friday NI Rocks Show this week.
That Rock Guy is a fairly intriguing and cool name for an artist and it came as no surprise to find out he was Australian! The initial PR material didn’t identify who ‘That Rock Guy’ actually was; but a little bit of digging identifies Australian Adam Barclay as the ‘Guy’ behind the vocals and guitars. His debut album “Nothin’ To Lose” was released through the AOR Heaven label on 30th June and the classic 80’s rock influences are clearly evident. I played the track "Can't Get Enough of You" on the Friday NI Rocks Show uploaded on 6th July.

Riverdogs formed in California back in 1989 and 28 years later, they’ve just released their fifth album; coincidentally entitled “California”. The album was released through Frontiers Records on 7th July. Belfast born guitarist Vivian Campbell is no doubt the highest profile member of the band – he played on the self-titled debut in 1990 before going on to play in Shadow King and then of course Def Leppard. The single “Welcome to the New Disaster” featured on the NI Rocks A-Z Show uploaded on 26th June and “American Dream” will be included on the Friday NI Rocks Show this week.
