Swedish band Brothers of Metal released their second album “Emblas Saga” on 10th January through AFM Records. The eight piece Viking-metal band features three lead singers and three guitarists. Brothers of Metal was formed in 2012, but has had a surge in popularity since the release of their debut album in 2017. Two tracks from the latest album have been featured on the Friday NI Rocks Show so far – “One” on 13th December and “Njord” on 10th January. The former was also included on the NI Rocks A-Z Show on 17th December.
Brothers of Metal formed in Falun, Sweden in 2012, with the current line-up being in place since 2013. There are three vocalists – Ylva Eriksson, Joakim Lindbäck Eriksson and Mats Nilsson – and three guitarists – Dawid Grahn, Pähr Nilsson and Mikael Fehrm. They are joined by bassist Emil Wärmedal and drummer Johan Johansson. The almost symphonic female vocals from Ylva Eriksson are countered by the rougher vocals of the two male singers. Viking themed attire is very much part of the image!
The band’s first album, “Prophecy of Ragnarök” was initially released independently in April 2017. The band were subsequently signed to AFM Records and the album was re-released in November 2018 – on CD and vinyl. AFM Records also released some tracks from the debut album as single and produced a limited edition vinyl single with “Fire Blood and Steel” by Brothers of Metal on one side and “Blood On Fire” by U.D.O. on the other.
The release of “Emblas Saga” on 10th January follows the release of two singles from the album – “Njord” and “One”.

About “NI Rocks Recommends”
This is purely a personal recommendation and some information about the artist and the album; not a traditional ‘review’. Most of the recommendations posted are for albums that have been sent to us digitally by the record label or promoter. Quite often I’ve also bought the album on CD or vinyl as well and sometimes I just feel the need to post a recommendation for an album that I’ve bought myself. Essentially these are albums that I like and which I’ve played some tracks from on the Shows on Rock Radio NI!
