“Native Soul” is the fourth album from Edge of Forever, the band established by prolific musician and producer Alessandro Del Vecchio in 2002. The album was released on 6th December by Frontiers Music; ten years on from the release of the band’s third album! Del Vecchio once again takes on the role of lead singer for this release. The track “Native Soul” was included on the Friday NI Rocks Show on 25th October followed by “Promised Land” on 22nd November.

Del Vecchio formed Edge of Forever in 2002 and the line-up for the band’s first two albums featured Bob Harris from Axe and the Frank Zappa band on vocals, Matteo Carnio on guitar, Francesco Jovino on drums and Christian Grillo on bass and Del Vecchio on keyboards. The debut album “Feeding The Fire” was released in 2004 and was followed by “Let The Demon Rock n Roll” in 2005. The latter was produced by Bobby Barth from Axe and Blackfoot.

There was a change in the band’s line-up for the third album “Another Paradise” in 2009, with only Jovino and Del Vecchio remaining; the latter taking over as lead vocalist. They were joined by guitarist Walter Caliaro, and bass player Nik Mazzucconi. It can hardly be surprising that it has taken another ten years for Del Vecchio to deliver another Edge of Forever album, given the huge number of projects that he has worked on as a musician, producer or writer over that period!

The current line-up of Edge of Forever features Del Vecchio on vocals and keyboards and Mazzucconi on bass. They are joined by new additions - guitarist Aldo Lonobile who was a founding member of Secret Sphere in 1997 and remains with that band and drummer Marco Di Salvia who has also been a member of Hardline since 2018.

About “NI Rocks Recommends”

This is purely a personal recommendation and some information about the artist and the album; not a traditional ‘review’. Most of the recommendations posted are for albums that have been sent to us digitally by the record label or promoter. Quite often I’ve also bought the album on CD or vinyl as well and sometimes I just feel the need to post a recommendation for an album that I’ve bought myself. Essentially these are albums that I like and which I’ve played some tracks from on the Shows on Rock Radio NI!
