Generally the NI Rocks album recommendations are for new studio releases by artists, but there were two releases on 27th April through Steamhammer / SPV that I thought warranted a mention. Both mark significant anniversaries for well established artists. The first is “666 Weeks Beyond Eternity” by Freedom Call, that features a re-release of the 2002 album “Eternity” and another CD that includes a new song, live recordings and other bonus material. The other release is “Magic Moments”, a triple CD that features the25th Anniversary Show hosted by Axel Rudi Pell in July 2014.
Freedom Call are Chris Bay on vocals and guitar, Lars Rettkowitz on guitar, Ilker Ersin on bass and Ramy Ali on drums. They released the first of their eight studio albums back in 1999, but the new album marks the 666 week anniversary of “Eternity” which was released in 2002. The bonus CD that accompanies the re-released “Eternity” has a new track called “666 Weeks Beyong Eternity”, five live tracks and four other bonus tracks.

Guitar icon Axel Rudi Pell hosted an outdoor concert in Balingen, Germany not long after his 54th birthday to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the start of his solo work. The concert actually kicks off with 4 tracks by the re-united Steeler, the band he was in from 1984-88. It then moves on to feature a mix of ARP songs and iconic rock tracks. As well as the current ARP line-up, the concert featured former ARP vocalists Rob Rock and Jeff Scott Soto as well as guests such as Vinny Appice, Ronnie Atkins (Pretty Maids), Doogie White (Yngwie Malmsteen / Rainbow), Graham Bonnet and Michael Voss (Bonfire)
Recommendation for the previous Axel Rudi Pell album “Into The Storm”, posted Dec 2013 - http://www.rockradioni.co.uk/back-stage/music-reviews/1389-ni-rocks-recommends-qinto-the-stormq-by-axel-rudi-pell.html
About “NI Rocks Recommends”
The simple idea behind “NI Rocks Recommends” is to acknowledge and promote some of the great music being submitted to Rock Radio NI. I'll not be giving marks or ratings or analyzing the tracks in great detail; just telling you something about the artist and the album. It’s a personal recommendation, not a traditional “review”!
My musical tastes cover most things rock; from he not too melodic to the not too heavy. The albums that I’ll be recommending are merely those that I would buy myself and which you’ll be hearing played on my shows on Rock Radio NI.
