“Welcome To Bone City” is the second album to be released by German band SpitFire (not to be confused with Norwegian band Spitfire!). The debut release in 2013 was “Devil’s Dance” which I also posted a recommendation for - http://www.rockradioni.co.uk/back-stage/music-reviews/1182-ni-rocks-recommends-devils-dance-by-spitfire.html . At least a couple of things from that recommendation still hold true. Firstly, the band members still probably have the best rock n’ roll names around. Secondly, their particular brand of rock n roll is still no-nonsense, in your face and instantly likeable! “Welcome To Bone City” was released through Rookies & Kings / SPV on 20th April.

SpitFire are Dick Dropkick on vocals and guitar, Johnny Jailbreak on bass and Nikk Nitro on drums (I did say they had great rock n roll names!).

Unfortunately “Devil’s Dance” was one of the casualties in my hard-drive crash in 2013 (though I still have the album on my iPod) so I’m looking forward to being able to play some tracks by SpitFire on the NI Rocks Shows again. I’ve already played “Too Young To Die” and there will be more to follow. Other favourite tracks amongst the 15 on the album include “Here We Go”, “Bone City Radio”, “Motorman”, “Hell & High Water” and “Take Me Home”. The CD also includes a bonus track in the form of a great cover of “Dangerzone”.

About “NI Rocks Recommends”

The simple idea behind “NI Rocks Recommends” is to acknowledge and promote some of the great music being submitted to Rock Radio NI. I'll not be giving marks or ratings or analyzing the tracks in great detail; just telling you something about the artist and the album. It’s a personal recommendation, not a traditional “review”!

My musical tastes cover most things rock; from he not too melodic to the not too heavy. The albums that I’ll be recommending are merely those that I would buy myself and which you’ll be hearing played on my shows on Rock Radio NI.
