“Second Storm” is the second album from Swedish melodic metal band Lancer and it is released through Despotz Records on 13th April. “Melodic metal” is be a sub-genre that can be hit or miss with me, but when I checked out the promo for “Second Storm” sent by Factory Records it definitely sparked enough interest to download the album for a more leisured listen. The more I listen to the album, the more that I like it! The opening track “Running From The Tyrant” has already featured on the Friday NI Rocks Show.
Lancer formed when the band members met at the Music Academy of Ingesund in Arvika and they released their first EP “Purple Sky” in 2012. This was followed by the self-titled debut album in early 2013. Since then the band have been working to establish themselves in the Swedish melodic / power metal scene and have moved to the Despotz Records label.
The band consists of Isak Stevvall on vocals, Fredrik Keleman and Per-Owe “Ewo” Solvelius on guitars, Emil Oberg on bass and Sebastian Pedernera on drums.
A music video has been released for the track “Iwo Jima”. Besides the two tracks already mentioned, my own favourites would be “Masters and Crowns”, “Children of the Storm” and the 10 minute epic “Aton”.

About “NI Rocks Recommends”
The simple idea behind “NI Rocks Recommends” is to acknowledge and promote some of the great music being submitted to Rock Radio NI. I'll not be giving marks or ratings or analyzing the tracks in great detail; just telling you something about the artist and the album. What it isn’t is a “review”!
My musical tastes cover most things rock; from the not too melodic to the not too heavy. The albums that I’ll be recommending are merely those that I would buy myself and which you’ll be hearing played on my shows on Rock Radio NI.
