It looks like 2015 is going to be a stellar year for local rock bands. We have new albums coming out from the leading names on the local scene, with The Answer’s new album just released and the second album from The Screaming Eagles due in a few months. In addition, Million Dollar Reload and Stormzone are amongst those who have been busy in the studio. At the heavier end of the scene, Sinocence are leading the pack with the release of “No God, No Masters Vol 2” this month. First out of the door though was the fantastic new release from Trucker Diablo entitled “Rise Above The Noise”. I’ll avoid the obvious opportunities that the album title offers, but let’s just say that Trucker Diablo have set the bar extremely high for those that follow them this year.
“Rise Above The Noise” was made available initially to those that helped fund it during the successful PledgeMusic campaign. Normally I only write recommendations for albums that get sent to us by promoters, but I would have made an exception for this album even if we hadn’t also received it in the mail!
There are 10 tracks on “Rise Above The Noise”, ranging from the haunting “Where Angels Fly” to all out rockers such as “Party Like They Started The End of the World”. The band as always deliver the slower tracks with as much passion as the party tracks. It goes without saying that there isn’t a track on the album that doesn’t meet the standard set by the rest. A clear favourite for many people though seems to be “Murder Ballad”.

About “NI Rocks Recommends”
The simple idea behind “NI Rocks Recommends” is to acknowledge and promote some of the great music being submitted to Rock Radio NI. I'll not be giving marks or ratings or analyzing the tracks in great detail; just telling you something about the artist and the album. What it isn’t is a “review”!
My musical tastes cover most things rock; from the not too melodic to the not too heavy. The albums that I’ll be recommending are merely those that I would buy myself and which you’ll be hearing played on my shows on Rock Radio NI.
