“Stereo Messiah” is the third album from British band Vega and was released through Frontiers Records on 17th October. The band have developed a big following in melodic rock / AOR circles since the release of their debut album “Kiss of Life” in December 2010. A notable inclusion on “Stereo Messiah” is Joe Elliott of Def Leppard and the Down ‘n’ Outz on the track “10 X Bigger Than Love” which he wrote and duets on. Vega will be supporting the Down ‘n’ Outz on their tour of the UK and Ireland in December, including the date in the Limelight, Belfast on Wednesday 17th December.

The title track of the debut album “Kiss of Life” featured on Classic Rock Magazine’s free CD in issue 161 (“2011 – The Best of the Year..So Far”) and was probably the first track that I’d heard from the band. The second album “What the Hell” was released under a different label in 2013 but the band have returned to Frontiers for this release.

Vega consists of Nick Workman on vocals, Dan Chantrey on drums, Tom Martin on bass, James Martin on keyboards and Marcus Thurston on guitar. The band worked with John Mitchell at Outhouse Studio in Reading to record the album, with mastering being done by Harem Scarem’s Harry Hess at his studio in Canada. In addition to the Down ‘n’ Outz tour, Vega have a few headline dates in England in November and have been confirmed for the Hard Rock Hell AOR Festival in March 2015.

About “NI Rocks Recommends”

The simple idea behind “NI Rocks Recommends” is to acknowledge and promote some of the great music being submitted to Rock Radio NI. To be honest I’m not really a big fan of “Reviews” expressing positives or negatives which essentially just represent one person’s opinion. With “NI Rocks Recommends”, I'll not be giving marks or ratings or dissecting every aspect of the album; just telling you something about the artist and the album and that I like it!

My musical tastes covers most things from heavy melodic rock (anything too melodic bores me!) to the lower echelons of the metal genre (where it’s not ALL growling and screaming!). The albums that I’ll be recommending are merely those that I would buy myself and which you’ll be hearing played on my shows on Rock Radio NI.
