Steve Overland is of course best known as frontman for British melodic rock icons FM, but over the years he has released a number of albums under other guises. That includes The Ladder, Shadowman and most recently Overland. “Epic” is the third release from Overland following on from “Break Away” in 2008 and “Diamond Dealer” in 2009. The album is released on 21st February through Escape Music.
For “Epic”, Steve Overland has secured the services of Billy Greer (Kansas), Fredrik Bergh and Billy Trudel. The album is produced by Mike Slamer.
“Epic” would be a must-buy for dedicated melodic rock fans given the involvement of Overland and co. Personally I only dabble in that genre and judge each melodic rock album that I encounter on its merits. This is an album that definitely ticked the box for me though – hence the recommendation. There are plenty of great rockin tunes on this album and enough soaring guitars to keep most people happy. Personal favourites include “If Looks Could Kill”, “Stranded” and “Rock Me”.

About “NI Rocks Recommends”
I'm not a reviewer and I certainly don’t claim to be a journalist, but I wanted to acknowledge some of the great music being submitted to Rock Radio NI by artists, promoters and labels. That was the simple idea behind “NI Rocks Recommends”. To be honest I’m not really a big fan of the whole idea of “Reviews” as they just represent one person’s opinion!! So I'm not giving marks or ratings, trying to categorise bands or compare artists. The albums that I’ll be recommending are merely those that I would buy myself and which you’ll be hearing played on my shows on Rock Radio NI.
