Well it’s no secret that we’re massive Million Dollar Reload fans; indeed the band were one of those that inspired the idea to start an NI Rocks page on MySpace almost five years ago! So a “NI Rocks Recommendation” for the band’s new live album “As Real As It Gets” will come as no surprise. What can you say about Million Dollar Reload that hasn’t already been said by reviewers and others for many years? Thankfully, as I’m not a reviewer I don’t have to worry about finding new ways of bestowing accolades on the band, all I need to do to assure you unreservedly that you need to go and buy this album!!

“As Real As It Gets” was recorded live in the Diamond Rock Club, Ahoghill in April 2013 and the full one and a quarter hour show featuring 16 tracks is captured on the digipak CD and the download version. The gatefold double blue vinyl version doesn’t include the final closing track which was the ever popular cover of Thin Lizzy’s “Cowboy Song”.

The album is released on 17th December and is available for pre-order from 9th December. It can only be purchased through the band’s website - http://www.milliondollarreload.com/

If there were any justice in the world and if rock music once again ruled the airwaves and charts rather than the inane, artificial dross that we are now inflicted with, the next Million Dollar Reload live album would be recorded at a headlining concert in a huge stadium in front of thousands. Unfortunately the odds are against that happening (though who knows? - it's certainly deserved!), but most of those of us who were in The Diamond Rock Club that night probably wouldn’t have swapped it for any other venue. That atmosphere and sound have been perfectly captured on the aptly named “As Real As It Gets”.

Go buy the album when it is released and listen to what real music sounds like!

About “NI Rocks Recommends”

I'm not a reviewer and I certainly don’t claim to be a journalist, but I wanted to acknowledge some of the great music being submitted to Rock Radio NI by artists, promoters and labels. That was the simple idea behind “NI Rocks Recommends”. To be honest I’m not really a big fan of the whole idea of “Reviews” as they just represent one person’s opinion!!  So I'm not giving marks or ratings, trying to categorise bands or compare artists. The albums that I’ll be recommending are merely those that I would buy myself and which you’ll be hearing played on my shows on Rock Radio NI.
