NI Rocks Recommends
I'm not a reviewer but wanted to acknowledge some of the great music being submitted to Rock Radio NI by artists, promoters and labels both within and outside of N Ireland. That was the idea behind “NI Rocks Recommends”. I'm not giving marks or ratings, trying to categorise bands or compare artists. To be honest I’m not really a big fan of most reviews as they’re simply one person’s opinion!! Therefore “NI Rocks Recommends” is just my personal recommendation. Let's just say that if I've went to the bother of writing this, I think it's worth taking a listen to and you’ll be hearing it played on my shows on Rock Radio NI!!
Frank Hannon – “Six String Soldiers”
Tesla is probably my favourite rock band, but this album by Frank Hannon (Tesla’s guitarist should anyone need told!!) show’s that there is a lot more to Mr Hannon than that band. This is the third studio album release from Frank Hannon (or the earlier Frank Hannon Band) and it’s definitely worth checking out. If you like ballads, instrumentals or thumping rock tunes this album is for you. Throughout you’ll find some great guitar riffs. Highlights for me are “Lipstick Smoke and Gasoline” which features Dave Meniketti from Y & T, “I’m Alive” which features Pat Travers and the instrumental title track “Six String Soldiers”.
Vocals on the album are provided by Jeff Sandoval and there are no fewer than six guitarists involved with the album (hence "Six String Soldiers"!)
The album is already on release through Redhawk Records and can be bought on Amazon, iTunes and all the usual places.
