For about seven years, from 2000 onwards, I drove a Mazda 323F that I loved. It had a cassette player installed and I kept a small stash of cassettes that were constantly rotated through the player. One of those contained the album “Hot Wire” by Kix; which is maybe why I’ve maintained a keen interest in what the band are doing! In 2014 the band released their first studio album in almost 20 years and on 21st October Loud & Proud Records released a documentary DVD called “Can’t Stop The Show – The Return of Kix”. Accompanying the DVD is a CD of live performances – “Can’t Stop The Show (Live)” – which includes 12 tracks recorded over the past three years. “Girl Money” is included on the Friday NI Rocks Show on 28th October.

This is an album recommendation that I take great pleasure in posting as I feel like I’ve been watching things progress to this point for the past six years. “Razed on Rock” is the excellent new album from Clifford Hoad’s Kings of the Sun and it was independently released on 20th October. It can purchased from the band’s website at http://www.kingsofthesunband.com/
The title track is included on the Friday NI Rocks Show on 28th October.

Many rock fans will recognise the name Kee Marcello, but many people probably won’t. Those who know him will most likely do so because he was the guitarist in the band Europe from 1986 to 1992. Since then he has largely remained below the radar of mainstream rock for the majority of people not living in Scandinavia. Until now! His latest solo album, perhaps appropriately, entitled “Scaling Up” is his first for Frontiers Music and it was released on 14th October. The track “Black Hole Star” was included on the Friday NI Rocks Show on 21st October.
