As always, its great to see THE METAL get some recognition. It’s especially pleasing when it’s a band who are as dedicated as STRIKER. Ahead of their new album release they have just been awarded the third annual Edmonton Music Prize.

The band accepted the 1st place prize (awarded by the Edmonton Arts Council) which comes along with a very timely $8000 – for their last album City of Gold – at the MacEwan University; “This is amazing!” said drummer Andy Brown who accepted the prize; “this comes at a great time for us because we’re going on tour across Europe and South America, thank you very much, this is a great honour”.

New album Stand In The Fire is released in the UK on February 26th on their own Record Breaking Records label. 

The band; Dan Clearly (vocals) Tim Brown (lead/rhythm guitars) William Wallace (bass) Adam Brown (drums) recorded the album themselves with the help of Randy Black (who filled in on drums while Adam was away…) and mixing genius Frederik Nordstrom (Bring Me The Horizon, In Flames, Opeth) giving them not only the time and space needed but the freedom to set up the release direct to fans worldwide. “We’re so excited about having our music, our ideas, and our future in our own hands – ushering in a new era for the band of decisive action, dedication and forward thinking.
