Norwegian band Darkest Sins released their second album “The Broken” via Pride & Joy Music on 21st October. The band formed in 2009 and features both a male and female vocalist who share the lead. I hadn’t heard anything by the band prior to receiving the album via GerMusica PR and I really liked what I heard. Darkest Sins are referred to as a “melodic metal” band, but I’m not convinced that their sound is as easily labelled as that – I’m no expert on (or fan of) of genre labels though! The track “Darkest Sins” from the album was included on the Friday NI Rocks Show on 21st October.
In 2015, Extreme performed a special concert to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the release of their classic album “Pornograffitti”. This concert is being released on Blu-Ray/DVD/CD on 4th November 2016 entitled “Pornograffitti Live 25 / Metal Meltdown”. This will be followed by an exclusive vinyl release on 25th November (Black Friday).

When I interviewed Nathan James from Inglorious when he was in Belfast in July (http://www.rockradioni.co.uk/interviews/2773-ni-rocks-interview-with-nathan-james-from-inglorious.html ) he mentioned that they were heading into the studio to commence work on album number two. There was more about the new album in the media this week. It is being produced by Kevin Shirley who is famous for his work with Led Zeppelin, Aerosmith, Bon Jovi and many others. Shirley has been quoted as saying “This band are actually glorious! Amazing singer, amazing band. The best British band I’ve seen since…I could say the Darkness, but I really mean Led Zeppelin.”
Steve Overland’s name is undoubtedly at the fore when you’re thinking about great British melodic rock singers. The FM frontman released his latest solo album, called “Contagious”, through Escape Music on 21st October. The album is an excellent showcase for just how good a performer Overland is. Once again he has also brought in a few friends to contribute to the tracks as well. I played the track “Doctor My Heart” on the Friday NI Rocks Show on 21st October.
