As much as I love my classic rock and as good as it is to see musicians from the 80’s and 90’s releasing new music, it is always great to see the younger generation coming through. One such band is Skarlett Riot – unfortunately I’ve yet to see them live, but I’ve been featuring them on my Shows for about three years. They released a new album called “Regenerate” through Despotz Records on 27th October. The single “Break” was included on the Friday NI Rocks Show on 13th October and “Warrior” was on the Show on 27th October. Singer Skarlett was my guest on the Show in May 2016.

“Play To Win” is the second album from Phantom 5, the band formed by musician / producer Michael Voss and singer Claus Lessman. It was released on 13th October by Frontiers Music and is the follow up to the self-titled album released last year. I’d posted a recommendation for the first album and was keen to hear the latest offering – I wasn’t to be disappointed! I included “The Change In You” on the Friday NI Rocks Show on 27th October.
For people of a certain age (like me) the name Robin Beck instantly triggers memories of that coca-cola advert from the late 80’s that made her track “First Time” a huge success. Whilst that may have been her only UK success, there is a lot more to Robin Beck’s career than that one track. On 13th October Frontiers Music released her tenth studio album called “Love Is Coming”. Some of the tracks are a little too mellow / melodic for me personally but the talent is undeniable and there are enough ‘heavier’ tracks to keep me happy. I included the opening track “Island” on the Friday NI Rocks Show on 27th October.

Midnite City is the new band formed earlier this year by Tigertailz frontman Rob Wylde, and they released their debut self-titled album on 20th October via the AOR Heaven label. The band’s music has been labelled as “timeless, melodic rock / hair metal” and that seems about right! The album is definitely worth checking out. I played the track “Summer of Our Lives” on the Friday NI Rocks Show on 13th October.
