“The Rise of Starlit Fires” is the third album from Finnish power metal band Force Majeure and it was released on 8th September via Mighty Music. It’s the band’s first release with new singer Marcus Lång who delivers some outstanding vocal performances. The power metal genre is one of those that can be a little hit or miss for me personally; but “The Rise of Starlit Fires” ticks quite a few boxes and power metal fans are sure to revel in it.

“Neverland” is the first album released by Swiss band Gods of Silence – or more exactly the first since they changed their name from Kirk following the replacement of the original lead singer in 2016.The album was released on 8th September through ROAR! (Rock of Angels Records). The melodic outfit originally formed as ‘Kirk’ back in 1994 and released albums in 2003 and 2014. They’re now back with a new name, new singer and new label. I played the track “All My Life” on the Friday NI Rocks Show on 25th August.

“Flashback” is the debut album from French band Archange and it was released through Mighty Music on 25th August. The band was formed in 2013 by four established local musicians and the album is a bit of a homage to 80’s rock really. I played the track “Rock Non Stop” on the Friday NI Rocks on 25th August.
My memory isn’t what it used to be (well that’s a lie really, it’s never been great!!); but I do have a vague recollection of hearing Lionheart performing back in the mid 80’s. That was probably on Channel 4’s “ECT” which we never missed, but it might also have been the video for the single “Die For Love”. The reason for my reminiscing is the release of a new album from Lionheart on 25th August. “Second Nature” was released via AOR Heaven and I played the track “Lionheart” on the Friday NI Rocks Show on 24th August.
