British band In Faith released their debut album “There’s a Storm Coming” through Rocktopia / Cargo Records on 24th October. Reading the press release from Rock ‘n’ Growl Promotions my eye immediately focused on the fact that members of In Faith had previously played in bands such as Vaughn and Eden’s Curse and that there were guest appearances by guitarists from Tyketto and Furyon. That was enough to warrant a quick listen and the subsequent decision that the album was definitely worth downloading! The debut album from In Faith certainly delivers a very listenable brand of melodic hard rock.

“Rats and Rumours” is the new album from German hard rockers Nitrogods. It was released through Steamhammer/SPV on 20th October and is the follow up to the self-titled debut album from 2012. Tracks from that debut album will have featured on a few of the NI Rocks shows on Rock Radio NI over the past couple of years. “Rats and Rumours” maintains that raw, hard-hitting feel of the debut “Nitrogods”; something that may result from the band’s insistence of recording in a studio using analogue technology.

“Stereo Messiah” is the third album from British band Vega and was released through Frontiers Records on 17th October. The band have developed a big following in melodic rock / AOR circles since the release of their debut album “Kiss of Life” in December 2010. A notable inclusion on “Stereo Messiah” is Joe Elliott of Def Leppard and the Down ‘n’ Outz on the track “10 X Bigger Than Love” which he wrote and duets on. Vega will be supporting the Down ‘n’ Outz on their tour of the UK and Ireland in December, including the date in the Limelight, Belfast on Wednesday 17th December.
It’s been a great year for all girl band ThunderMother. They’ve signed with Warner Records, released their debut album “Rock n Roll Disaster”, played the Sweden Rock Festival and most recently supported Michael Monroe on his tour of Sweden. The band which consists of Irish lead singer Clare Cunningham, Swedes Filippa Nassil on lead guitar, Linda Strom on bass and Tilda Stenqvist on drums and Italian Giorgia Carteri on rhythm guitar, kick off a tour of Ireland and the UK on 7th November. That tour includes a show in The Pavilion, Belfast on Sunday 9th November. Ahead of the tour I spoke to Clare in Stockholm via Skype. Unfortunately we had a few technical issues so the whole interview wasn’t included on the Friday NI Rocks Show which was broadcast on 24th October (and is now on MixCloud -http://www.mixcloud.com/NIRocks/interview-with-clare-cunningham-from-thunder-mother-on-the-friday-ni-rocks-show-24th-oct-2014/)
but we managed to broadcast most of it. A transcript is provided below.
