Scottish rockers Heavy Pettin re-released their first three albums on 29th November through Burnt Out Wreckords and Cherry Red Records – “Lettin Loose”, “Love Ain’ Dead” and “The Big Bang”. I’ve been a big fan of Heavy Pettin since seeing them supporting Kiss in Edinburgh in October 1983 and it was great to see the band reforming in 2017 and subsequently re-releasing their albums from the 80’s. The band has regularly been included on the Friday NI Rocks Show, with the latest track to feature being “Don’t Call It Love” from the album “The Big Bang” on 13th December.

On 25th October, Canadian singer Carl Dixon re-released his debut solo album “One” and on 29th November he followed that up with the release of a new album called “Unbroken”. Both albums were released on the AOR Heaven label. Dixon had fronted Canadian band Coney Hatch in the 80’s and went on to release his first solo album, “One”, in 1993. The re-release of that album was timed to coincide with the release of a new album called “Unbroken”. The track “One Good Reason” from “One” was included on the Friday NI Rocks Show on 15th November; followed by “This Isn’t The End” from “Unbroken” on 7th December.

Local musician Conal Montgomery will be familiar to many on the local scene as the frontman for bands such as Sweet Leaf and StillWater, mainly performing covers. In November he fulfilled a long held ambition of releasing an album of his own songs with the independent release of “Happy Being Free”. We arranged a Skype call to talk about the album on 17th December and you can hear that interview on the Friday NI Rocks Show available on the NI Rocks MixCloud page - https://www.mixcloud.com/NIRocks/interview-with-conal-montgomery-on-the-friday-ni-rocks-show-on-20th-dec-2019/
