Gypsy Rose were a Swedish band formed in 1981 – not to be confused with the Canadian band of the same name formed in the late 80’s. The band was initially active from 1981 to 1993, before splitting and reforming in 2004 for a short period, during which they recorded and released two albums. Their 2005 self-titled debut album was re-released by Scandirock Records on 26th April and re-named “Reloaded”. I included the track “You Drive Me Crazy” on the Friday NI Rocks Show on 12th April.
There are two NI Rocks Shows uploaded each week on Rock Radio NI. These are the playlists for those shows for the month of April – all of which are still available from the On Demand Player. There are tracks by around 150 different artists on the Shows this month. Playlists for March were published previously and these Shows are also available via the On Demand Player – http://www.rockradioni.co.uk/news/rrni-updates/3570-ni-rocks-playlists-for-march-2019.html
This month the Friday NI Rocks Show included an interview with singer Jeff Scott Soto, focusing mainly on the new Soto album. All interviews can be found here - http://www.rockradioni.co.uk/interviews.html
“Full Service” is the new album from Southern Californian rockers Pump 5. It was released on 5th April through High Vol Music. The band have been around for a few years, but this is the first time that I’ve heard of them. The single “Painted Flowers” was first released some time ago, but I included it on the Friday NI Rocks Show on 29th March.
The Quireboys were one of the bands badly hit by the debacle at Pledge Music, which has seen many artists out of pocket – along with many of the pledgers. I was one of the initial pledgers for the album and like many others, I re-ordered through Off Yer Rocks Records when it was clear the Pledge Music Campaign was terminal. The latest album from The Quireboys, entitled “Amazing Disgrace”, was released digitally on 5th April and on CD on 19th April. A vinyl release is to follow in June. The track “Seven Deadly Sins” was included on the Friday NI Rocks Show on 5th April.
