The D-A-D album “Riskin’ It All” was on one of the cassette tapes that remained in my car throughout the 90’s and early 00’s until I first got a car not fitted with a cassette player! I’ve been a fan of the band ever since. On 31st May they released their first album in eight years. It is called “A Prayer for the Loud” and it was released through AFM Records. I included the track “Burning Star” on the Friday NI Rocks Show on 12th April and 17th May and later “Nothing Ever Changes” on the Show on 7th June.

Iconic NWOBHM band Diamond Head released their latest album, “The Coffin Train”, via Silver Linings Music on 24th May. The album is the second with singer Rasmus Bom Andersen and comes just three years after the self-titled album which marked his debut with the band. Remarkably it is only the eighth studio album from a band that Metallica and many others have identified as an early influence. The track “Our Time Is Now” was included on the Friday NI Rocks Show on 26th April followed by the title track “The Coffin Train” on 31st May.

“Line of Fire” is the third album from First Signal, the band fronted by Canadian singer Harry Hess, and it was released by Frontiers Music on 17th May. More of a musical project than a band really, First Signal was formed to deliver an album similar in sound to Hess’s band Harem Scarem. The line-up has changed on each album, with the exception of Hess himself. Nevertheless they deliver what they set out to do each time! The track “Born To Be A Rebel” was included on the Friday NI Rocks Show on 12th April and then “A Million Miles” on the Show on 7th June.
