Madison was a Swedish glam / hair metal band that was active for a few years in the 80’s and released two albums. The second of those albums, “Best In Show” was only ever released on vinyl in Europe until now. On 16th November the album was released as a limited edition CD by Pride & Joy Music. I included the track “Hotel Party” on the Friday NI Rocks Show on 23rd November.

Madison formed in 1983 and released their debut album, “Diamond Mistress” in 1984. That was followed by the album “Best in Show” in 1986. This was released via Sonet Records/Universal Music in Europe on vinyl only, although it did get a CD release in Japan where the band had toured and built up a good fanbase. The band members then parted ways in 1987.

The band member that will be most recognised is vocalist Göran Edman who went on to perform with John Norum, Yngwie Malmsteen and many others. Edman performed on both Madison albums; as did guitarist Anders Kalson, drummer Peter Fredrickson and bass player Conny Sundqvist. The other guitarist on “Best In Show” was Mikael Myllynen (Mike Moon), who had replaced Dan Stomberg.

About “NI Rocks Recommends”

The simple idea behind “NI Rocks Recommends” is to acknowledge and promote some of the great music being submitted to Rock Radio NI. The albums that I’ll be recommending are those that you’ll hear me playing tracks from on my shows. I'll not be giving marks or ratings or analyzing the tracks in great detail; just telling you something about the artist and the album. It’s a personal recommendation to go check something out, not a traditional “review”!
