Finnish band King Company released their debut album “One For The Road” via Frontiers Music on 26th August. The band formed in 2014 with all the members having previously performed with other bands and several of them having been in bands together before. They originally started off as No Man’s Land but later changed that name to King Company. The track “Shining” was included on the Friday NI Rocks Show on 2nd September.

The band was formed by drummer Mirka “Leka” Rantanen, who recruited guitarist Antti Wirman, singer Pasi Rantanen, Jari Pailamo on keyboards and Time Schleifer on bass. The debut album probably would have been released a little sooner if not for the fact that Wirman was on tour with Children of Bodom.

King Company (still called No Man’s Land at that time) played their first live gig in late 2015 before entering the studio to record their debut album.

There really are no tracks that I wouldn’t play on the NI Rocks Shows, but my favourite tracks from the 11 on the album would be “One For The Road”, “Shining”, “No Man’s Land”, “Wings of Love”, “Cast Away” and “One Heart”.

About “NI Rocks Recommends”

The simple idea behind “NI Rocks Recommends” is to acknowledge and promote some of the great music being submitted to Rock Radio NI. I'll not be giving marks or ratings or analyzing the tracks in great detail; just telling you something about the artist and the album. It’s a personal recommendation to go check something out, not a traditional “review”!

My musical tastes cover most things rock; from the not too melodic to the not too heavy. The albums that I’ll be recommending are those that you’ll hear me playing tracks from on my shows on Rock Radio NI.
