Ex-Queensryche front man Geoff Tate’s Operation Mindcrime band have announced a return to The Belfast Empire on Wednesday 20th February 2019. Tickets go on sale tomorrow from all usual Ticketmaster outlets nationwide.

Earlier this year, Geoff and his band undertook an extensive tour of the UK including a packed out show at The Empire to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the classic Queensryche album ‘Operation Mindcrime’, with a number of the dates completely sold out.

Swedish heavy metal band Liv Sin, featuring former Sister Sin vocalist Liv Jagrell, has entered the studio to record the follow up to their 2017 debut album ”Follow Me”. Liv was my guest on the Friday NI Rocks Show in May 2017 following the release of that album - http://www.rockradioni.co.uk/interviews/3121-ni-rocks-interview-with-liv-jagrell-liv-sin.html

“The Human Race Extinction” is the third album by Belgian melodic progressive metal band Ethernity and it was released on 14th September by AFM Records. This is the female fronted band’s first album with AFM, with the previous two being released independently. There are 14 tracks on this concept album which lasts for over 70 minutes. The track “The Prototype” was included on the Friday NI Rocks Show on 17th August.

“Until Death Do We Meet Again” is the debut album from Dream Child, a band created by former Dio guitarist Craig Goldy that also includes former Dio members, drummer Simon Wright and bass player Rudy Sarzo. With that line-up the influences should be fairly obvious! The album was released by Frontiers Music on 14th September. I’ve played four tracks from the album on the Friday NI Rocks Show over the past few weeks – “You Can’t Take Me Down” on 29th June, “Under The Wire” on 17th August, “Weird World” on 31st August and “Midnight Song” on 21st September.

Groundbreaker is a new melodic rock project that features F.M. vocalist Steve Overland and Work of Art / W.E.T. guitarist Robert Säll. Their self-titled debut album was released through Frontiers Records on 14th September. If you’re a melodic rock fan this is definitely an album you’ll need to check out as it combines the talents of two of the genres biggest names from England and Sweden. I’ve included three tracks from the album on the Friday NI Rocks Show so far – “Over My Shoulder” on 29th June, “Something Worth Fight For” on 17th August and “Will It Make You Love Me” on 21st September.

KrashKarma is a duo based in Los Angeles and it features Ralf Dietal on vocals and guitar and Niki Skistimas on drums and vocals. The band fuses a number of genres into a great sound and initially started as a four-piece but quickly shifted to the current format. The track “Stranded” was included on the Friday NI Rocks Show on 21st September.

Satan were one of the iconic group of early New Wave of British Heavy Metal (NWOBHM) bands and possessed a name that no doubt did a great deal to endear the metal genre to the so called moral majority! Their 1983 debut album “Court In The Act” is often referred to as one of the pivotal records of the era – perhaps more in hindsight rather than due to its impact at the time. “Cruel Magic” is the band’s third album since reforming in 2011 and it was released on 7th September by Metal Blade Records. The track “Death Knell For A King” was included on the Friday NI Rocks Show on 7th September.

“Purgatorio” is the third album from Swedish band Manimal (not to be confused with the French death metal band of the same name) and it was released on 7th September via AFM Records. The band name always reminds me of the awful TV series from the 80’s, but thankfully the music is of a much better quality and this is actually the second album recommendation that I’ve posted for this band. The single “Manimalized” was included on the Friday NI Rocks Show on 17th August and the title track is on the Show this week.

Californian power metal band Helion Prime released their second album, “Terror of the Cybernetic Space Monster”, through AFM Records on 31st August. I’d almost post a recommendation just to get mentioning that awesome title, but in reality this is an album well worth checking out for the nine tracks that it features! The title track is actually a seventeen minute epic, but I still might include it on a Show sometime! Instead, I included “A King Is Born” on the Friday NI Rocks Show on 31st August.

“Road To Disorder” is the second album from Danish band I’ll Be Damned and it was released on 31st August via Drakkar Entertainment. Promoted as Denmark’s hottest rock sensation since Volbeat, I’ll Be Damned deliver their own brand of music meshing together a variety of metal / rock sub-genres. I featured the track “You Are The Young” on the Friday NI Rocks Show on 21st September.
