It’s hard to believe that it’s very nearly four years since singer Jorn Lande and guitarist Trond Holter released the album “Swing of Death”, the rock opera concept album, based on the tales of Dracula. That was January 2015, and the subsequent success of the musical performance in theatres around Norway has led to a follow up album being released by the band Holter. The album “Vlad The Impaler” was released by Frontiers Music on 9th November. I’ve featured the first three singles on the Friday NI Rocks Show – “I’ll Die for You” on 12th Oct, “Worlds on Fire” on 19th Oct and “The Last Generation” on 16th Nov.

The new album, “Vlad The Impaler”, continues the story of Dracula from where “Swing of Death” left off; Vlad The Impaler or Vlad Dracula, of course being the 15th Century figure that inspired the Dracula legend. Jorn Lande isn’t involved this time, with Nils K Rue being the lead male vocalist and Eva Iselin Erichsen being the lead female vocalist. Joining those two and guitarist Trond Holter are bass player Bernt Jansen, drummer Per Morten Bergseth and keyboard player Erling Henanger.

Trond Holter was the guitarist for Norwegain glam rock band Wig Wam between 2001 and 2013 when he was known as ‘Teeny’. During this period the band released a number of albums, participated in the Eurovision Song Contest finals and supported Kiss in Oslo. He started playing guitar in Jorn’s band in 2011, playing on the “Traveller” and “Heavy Rock Radio” albums. In 2015 they released “Swing of Death” which can trace its roots back to a project Holter started in 2009 aimed at delivering a rock n roll horror show.

About “NI Rocks Recommends”

The simple idea behind “NI Rocks Recommends” is to acknowledge and promote some of the great music being submitted to Rock Radio NI. The albums that I’ll be recommending are those that you’ll hear me playing tracks from on my shows. I'll not be giving marks or ratings or analyzing the tracks in great detail; just telling you something about the artist and the album. It’s a personal recommendation to go check something out, not a traditional “review”!
