Rock legend Graham Bonnet returns with a new album called “Meanwhile, Back In the Garage” which was released by Frontiers Music on 13th July. The Graham Bonnet Band are supporting the album release with a tour that sees them return to The Limelight in Belfast on 17th August. This album follows on from the release of “The Book” in 2016 which featured the first new Graham Bonnet tracks in some time, along with re-recordings of some his classics. The title track from “Meanwhile, Back In the Garage” was included on the Friday NI Rocks Show on 18th May and on the NI Rocks A-Z Show on 5th June. The Friday NI Rocks Show also featured “Sea of Trees” on 6th July and “Past Lives” on 27th July.

Bonnet of course is best known for his time with Rainbow, the Michael Schenker Group, Alcatrazz and Impellitteri, but he also has an extensive solo catalogue. I was fortunate enough to record an interview with him when he played Belfast for the first time in many years in 2016 - http://www.rockradioni.co.uk/interviews/2920-ni-rocks-interview-with-graham-bonnet.html

The Graham Bonnet Band features the man himself on vocals, Beth-Ami Heavenstone on bass, Kurt James on guitar, Jimmy Waldo on keyboard and Mark Benquechea on drums. However, Joey Trafolla plays all of the guitars on the album, except for the track “Livin In Suspicion” on which James plays.

The album comes with a bonus DVD of a live performance at Daryl’s House from earlier this year.

About “NI Rocks Recommends”

The simple idea behind “NI Rocks Recommends” is to acknowledge and promote some of the great music being submitted to Rock Radio NI. The albums that I’ll be recommending are those that you’ll hear me playing tracks from on my shows. I'll not be giving marks or ratings or analyzing the tracks in great detail; just telling you something about the artist and the album. It’s a personal recommendation to go check something out, not a traditional “review”!
