We recently received links to two re-releases from our friends at HighVolMusic. I’ve already published a recommendation for the album by Wycked Synn. The other album was “13 Crows” by Canadian band Snake Eyes Seven and it was re-released on 6th January. I played the track “Show Me The Money” on the Friday NI Rocks Show on 3rd February.

Snake Eyes Seven had released their self-titled debut album in 2007 and the follow-up “13 Crows” was ready for release in 2010, but the record company deal fell through. It has now been picked up by HighVolMusic and re-released ahead of a new album from the band entitled “Medicine Man”.

There was a change in lead singer between the first and second album with original vocalist Ken Stone re-uniting with guitarist Cole “The Madman” Stevens and drummer Johnny Blade for “13 Crows”.

There are 13 tracks on the album, which is sure to appeal to anyone with a taste for what might be termed “old school” metal. My favourite tracks are “13 Crows”, “David and Goliath”, “Show Me The Money”, “Freight Train” and “Hell or High Water”.

The album was produced by Cam MacLeod, who is now guitarist in the current day line-up of Snake Eyes Seven. Founding member Stevens remains and the rest of the current line-up of the band on “Medicine Man” are Danny Deane on vocals, Mike Cillis on bass and Erik Young on drums.

About “NI Rocks Recommends”

The simple idea behind “NI Rocks Recommends” is to acknowledge and promote some of the great music being submitted to Rock Radio NI. I'll not be giving marks or ratings or analyzing the tracks in great detail; just telling you something about the artist and the album. It’s a personal recommendation to go check something out, not a traditional “review”!

My musical tastes cover most things rock; from the not too melodic to the not too heavy. The albums that I’ll be recommending are those that you’ll hear me playing tracks from on my shows on Rock Radio NI.
