_{“Freak Show Candy Floss” is the excellent new album from Voodoo Vegas, a band I’ve been following since I saw them in a support slot in Belfast in early 2010. I posted an interview with the band in June 2013 when they released their debut studio album “The Rise of Jimmy Silver” and they played a headline gig in Belfast  that July. I’ve had a copy of the intriguingly named “Freak Show Candy Floss” since September as I’d joined the pledge campaign for the album. It was officially released on 4th November. The single “Killing Joke”, for which the band released a fantastic video, was included on the Friday NI Rocks Show on 21st October. I hope to have the band as guests on the Show in the near future; when we’ll be playing a few more tracks.}

 

_{Voodoo Vegas formed on the south coast of England and had been around for a few years before I saw them in Belfast in 2010. By that stage they’d released the live CD which I bought that night. The debut album followed in 2013 and they released an EP called “Hypnotise” in 2015.}

_{There have been a couple of line-up changes since our interview in 2013, but Lawrence Case on vocals, Meryl Hamilton on guitar and Ash Moulton on bass remain. The “new” guys are Jonno Smyth on drums and Jon Dawson on guitar.}

_{There are ten tracks on the album and that trademark Voodoo Vegas Rock n Roll vibe pervades all of them. There aren’t any poor tracks, but if forced to pick favourites I’d probably go with “Backstabber”, “Long Time Gone”, “Killing Joke”, “Lady Divine”, “Poison” and “Black Heart Woman”.}
