Following a gap of almost thirty years, Steve Grimmett’s Grim Reaper have just released album number four! The NWOBHM legends return with “Walking In The Shadows” which was released by Dissonance Productions on 23rd September.  Steve Grimmett is my guest on the Friday NI Rocks Show on 30th September when we talk about the album and play 4 tracks from it. The title track from the album was also included on the Friday NI Rocks Show on 23rd Sept.

Grim Reaper formed in 1979 but by the time of the release of their debut album “See You In Hell” in 1983 only guitarist Nick Bowcott remained of the original members. Steve Grimmett had joined as the singer in 1982. The band released 3 successful albums before splitting in 1988, largely due to legal issues with label Ebony Records.

Steve Grimmett reformed the band in 2006 and rumours have been circulating for the past few years about the release of a new album. Those rumours became reality after the band signed with Dissonance to release “Walking In the Shadows”.

Alongside vocalist Steve Grimmett, Grim Reaper are Ian Nash on guitars, Mark Trail on bass and Paul ‘Needles’ White on drums.

About “NI Rocks Recommends”

The simple idea behind “NI Rocks Recommends” is to acknowledge and promote some of the great music being submitted to Rock Radio NI. I'll not be giving marks or ratings or analyzing the tracks in great detail; just telling you something about the artist and the album. It’s a personal recommendation to go check something out, not a traditional “review”!

My musical tastes cover most things rock; from the not too melodic to the not too heavy. The albums that I’ll be recommending are those that you’ll hear me playing tracks from on my shows on Rock Radio NI.
