“The Memories Uninvited” is the sixth album from Tennessee band One Less Reason and it is released through lead singer Cris Brown’s own label Tattooed Millionaire Records on 19th August. I must admit that I wasn’t overly familiar with One Less Reason prior to the release of this album. When our friends at New Ocean Media contacted me and provided the lead-off single “Where Were You” for airplay I was rather impressed though. (That track was played on the Friday NI Rocks Show on 22nd July.) When I got a chance to listen to the rest of “The Memories Uninvited” there was no doubt that this was an album that people needed to check-out.

One Less Reason originally signed with Universal Records in 2003, shortly after forming, but parted ways in 2004 and focused on releasing their own material. Five albums followed between 2005 and 2012. Their 2005 debut “Everydaylife” eventually received a Gold Record Award, whilst the 2010 album “Faces & Four Letter Words” debuted at number 1 on the Billboard Heatseekers chart and had digital sales of more than 400,000.

There are 11 tracks on the new album. Normally I’ll try to list 4 or 5 favourites from an album, but after about ten plays I was still stuck on 7 tracks. So the track’s I’d particularly recommend checking out are “Break Me”, “Something Beautiful”, “Where Were You”, “The Trade”, “On The Way Down” and “You Didn’t Know”. I also really liked the closing, slower track “Rainmaker”.

About “NI Rocks Recommends”

The simple idea behind “NI Rocks Recommends” is to acknowledge and promote some of the great music being submitted to Rock Radio NI. I'll not be giving marks or ratings or analyzing the tracks in great detail; just telling you something about the artist and the album. It’s a personal recommendation to go check something out, not a traditional “review”!

My musical tastes cover most things rock; from the not too melodic to the not too heavy. The albums that I’ll be recommending are those that you’ll hear me playing tracks from on my shows on Rock Radio NI.
