Chasing Dragons are a young, female fronted band from Yorkshire whose music I’ve seen described as various things. Not being an expert on (or big fan of) music genre labels, I’ll let you decide yourself how, or if, you want to categorise them; but regardless of the label, I like what I hear. The band released a new EP entitled “Faction: Prologue” on 29th March; ahead of the planned release of a debut album to be called “Faction” in 2017. I played the track “Devil In Her Eyes” on the Friday NI Rocks Show on 25th March.

Dragons released their debut EP “Take Flight For A Firefight” in 2012. Whilst labelled as an EP, it actually had 9 tracks, including 2 demos, 2 live acoustic tracks and a cover of “Black Velvet”. That same year they released the single “It’s Bravery, Honestly”, followed by the EPs “Hindsight’s A Bitch” in 2013 and “Checkmate” in 2014.

There are three tracks on the latest EP – “Devil In Her Eyes”, “The Mutiny” and “Whitehorse”. A video has been released for the first of these and the band have a number of gigs planned for the next few months to support the new EP, including the Muses Of Metal Fest in Keele and Upload Festival in Wakefield during May and Wildfire Fest in Scotland in June.

Chasing Dragons are Tank on vocals, Mitch on guitar, Murf on bass and Kate on drums. You can find out more and check out the social media links at http://www.chasingdragons.co.uk/

About “NI Rocks Recommends”

The simple idea behind “NI Rocks Recommends” is to acknowledge and promote some of the great music being submitted to Rock Radio NI. I'll not be giving marks or ratings or analyzing the tracks in great detail; just telling you something about the artist and the album. It’s a personal recommendation to go check something out, not a traditional “review”!

My musical tastes cover most things rock; from the not too melodic to the not too heavy. The albums that I’ll be recommending are merely those that I would buy myself and which you’ll be hearing played on my shows on Rock Radio NI.
