Belgian rockers Wizz Wizzard released their second album, entitled “Where The River Runs Cold” through Rocksector Records on 14th March. Unfortunately that release is somewhat overshadowed by the announcement just a few days ago that lead singer Wizz Beauprez has been diagnosed with cancer and is receiving treatment. All those involved in NI Rocks and Rock Radio NI would extend their best wishes to Wizz, his family, band members etc. I thought it only right though to go ahead and post the album recommendation that I would have been posting anyway.

I’d posted a recommendation for the previous album “Tears From The Moon” in February 2013 - http://www.rockradioni.co.uk/back-stage/music-reviews/1159-ni-rocks-recommends-qtears-from-the-moonq-by-wizz-w.html - and I reckon the latest album is even better.

Wizz Wizzard are Wizz on lead vocals and acoustic guitar, SMB and Kenny G on guitars, D-Troy on bass and Steve DC on drums. The album also features guest appearances from both Chris Appleton and Luke Appleton on guitars and backing vocals on several tracks. One of those tracks is “Wonders of the World” which previously featured on Chris Appleton’s solo album “Restless”.

I played the track “Crucified” on the Friday NI Rocks Show on 4th March. Other personal favourites would include “Rock Lives On”, “Break Away” and “Road To Valhalla”. There are 11 tracks on the album and none that I'd skip past which is always a good sign!

About “NI Rocks Recommends”

The simple idea behind “NI Rocks Recommends” is to acknowledge and promote some of the great music being submitted to Rock Radio NI. I'll not be giving marks or ratings or analyzing the tracks in great detail; just telling you something about the artist and the album. It’s a personal recommendation to go check something out, not a traditional “review”!

My musical tastes cover most things rock; from the not too melodic to the not too heavy. The albums that I’ll be recommending are merely those that I would buy myself and which you’ll be hearing played on my shows on Rock Radio NI.
