Cairo Son release their second album, entitled “Storm Clouds” on 14th March 2016. The band is based in London and this is the follow-on to their debut album “Heart Against The Feather” which was released in 2012. I recall seeing the band referred to as “post-grunge stoner rock” and wasn’t sure what to expect the first time I checked them out. I don’t claim to be an expert on the myriad of genre labels that circulate around the music scene nor of their application to rock bands. I do know what I like though, and I’m rather impressed with the latest album from Cairo Son.

The first single from “Storm Clouds” was called “Lion In A Cage”. The follow-up single “Devil’s Tongue” was included on the Friday NI Rocks Show broadcast on 11th March. There may only be 6 tracks on the album, but what it lacks in quantity it makes up for in quality and length of play! The six tracks will keep you rockin for 42 minutes!

Cairo Son are Magdy on guitar and lead vocals, Rico on bass and Dave on drums. Check out the band’s website for more info and the links to Facebook, Twitter, merchandise etc - http://www.cairoson.com/

About “NI Rocks Recommends”

The simple idea behind “NI Rocks Recommends” is to acknowledge and promote some of the great music being submitted to Rock Radio NI. I'll not be giving marks or ratings or analyzing the tracks in great detail; just telling you something about the artist and the album. It’s a personal recommendation to go check something out, not a traditional “review”!

My musical tastes cover most things rock; from the not too melodic to the not too heavy. The albums that I’ll be recommending are merely those that I would buy myself and which you’ll be hearing played on my shows on Rock Radio NI.
